The 2026 Sunfish Shootout Took Place on July 3 and 4, 2026
Congratulations to the Sunfish Shootout finalists! Champions of the July 4 main event include:
1st place: Porter Cross
2nd place: Russ Cross
3rd place: Claude Peyrot
Most accurate bracket: Wendy Jonkers
Congrats to the Youth Race champions on July 3. Twelve skippers participated.
1st place: Porter Cross (age 13)
2nd place: Magnus Cross (age 12)
3rd place: Mason Jedele (age 15)
Thank you to all of the participants, spectators and volunteers (especially the chase boat, race committee and photographers) for supporting this event and making donations to the Pentwater Junior Sailing Program. The final donation total will be published in the weeks ahead.
2025 Event Photos and Results
The Sunfish may be small, but this showdown was mighty! It was an exciting weekend at the Sunfish Shootout with some epic starts and even more exciting finishes that had the crowd roaring.
Congratulations to the top finishers of the Youth Race: Mason Jedele, Polly Slotsema, Elise Raymond, and Preston Slotsema.
Congratulations to the top finishers of the Main Event: Luke Reisterer, Russ Cross and Eric Duvall! 191 completed brackets were submitted.
