Thurs, July 18 – Thursday Night Dinner. “Back from the Mac and Cheese!” 6:30 PM. Also: Chicago dogs, salad and Mackinac Fudge ice cream. BFTM Tee-shirt reveal @ 6 PM. Tix on sale at bar.
Fri, July 19 – Back from the Mac! Special event open to public. CASH BAR 5 PM – midnight. (Note: everyone must purchase $1 tickets to pay for drinks; members can’t run tab/charge drinks as usual.). BUFFET 5-8 PM: pulled pork, brats, roasted corn-on-the-cob dipped in melted butter, various salads and desserts. ENTERTAINMENT: “Mid-Life Crisis Band” 8 PM-midnight. TICKETS: Members can buy discounted buffet/music ticket for $20 at bar through July 18. On event day, $22 tickets go on sale 5 PM for members/non-members alike. (Note: PYC members and general public who come to enjoy band/refreshments only, but not eat, must pay $10 cover charge … this helps pay for band.) STILL A COUPLE OF UNFILLED VOLUNTEER TASKS. Thurs, July 25 – Thursday Night Dinner. “Bodacious Back Yard Southern Barbecue!” Dinner provided by Chef Dave’s “Q Smokehouse Restaurant” in Ludington. Smoked chicken, beef brisket, pork back ribs, slaw, candied sweet potatoes, baked beans, cornbread, cherry and blueberry pies! Tix on sale July 18.
Sat, July 27 – “Christmas in July; A Night of Giving.” 5 - 9 PM. Enjoy a special Christmas menu and decorations. Proceeds benefit our local Salvation Army, and Marine Toys for Tots Program. Bring unwrapped toy, and/or make a monetary donation to either Toys for Tots and/or Salvation Army. Questions to Carol Nauta at email@example.com.
Fri, Aug. 2 – “Sunset Down the Channel” Deck Party. Broken Mast pricing 6-9 PM.
Sat, Aug 17 – Annual Meeting. 8:30 AM. Members will be asked to vote on several proposed changes to Bylaws and Standing Rules. Details to be postal mailed to members.
Fri, Aug. 30 – “Blues, Brews and Barbecue” Final Deck Party, featuring Thirsty Perch Band. 6-9 PM.
July 13 board meeting was chock full of substantive topics. Draft minutes will be posted in Members-Only area of Website before Annual Meeting.
Club’s Wi-fi password has been changed to: Member2019 (capital “M”). Update your phone/laptop.
Club to install two Fujitsu “mini-split” air conditioning units in kitchen; scheduled for July 22. Most of $9K cost being donated by Nancy Zielinski, Sue/Bill Bainton, and Amy LaBarge/Ron Beeber. Additional contributors would be most welcome.
Club is presently confronting several related issues concerning its outdated Information Technology (“I-T”) hardware, software and infrastructure. Ability to provide members with best service is sometimes compromised due to communications disconnect between servers, kitchen, and point of sale. IT-knowledgeable members are encouraged to step forward and participate in IT Committee (which currently has no chair or any members).
Impact of record lake levels being addressed on two fronts. (1) Thanks to Brad Davis/Bill Walker/Joe Gunther for building ramps from south deck over water-covered parking lot. (2) diver’s inspection of north end of main deck confirmed some breaking apart of old wood substructure, which has been submerged and weakening for past few years. Repair will involve member volunteers removing deck boards, Adams Marine installing new steel pilings, and volunteers then reattaching deck boards to new substructure.
A few volunteers still needed for Aug. 8 and 15 Thursday Night Dinners. Sign-up sheets on bulletin board.
Reminder, no breakfast feature or lunch on Monday’s to allow for administrative time.
Other Summer Hour Highlights: Club opens 10 AM daily. Daily services include (except Thursday): (1) Bar hours: Mon-Thurs 10 AM-10 PM. Fri-Sat 10 AM-11 PM. Sun 10 AM-7 PM. (2) Broken Mast Happy Hour 3-5 PM. (3) Lunch 11 AM-4 PM, (4) bar snacks only 4-5 PM to facilitate kitchen’s changeover to dinner (5) Kitchen closes: 9 PM on Mon/Tues/Wed/Fri/Sat; and 7 PM on Sun.
SEATING IS LIMITED DURING HIGH VOLUME PERIODS, SO RESERVATIONS ARE HIGHLY ENCOURAGED FOR PARTIES OF: (1) ANY SIZE ON PIZZA/SALAD MONDAY, and WEDNESDAY BASKET NIGHT, (2) ANY SIZE ON FRIDAYS AND SATURDAYS BETWEEN 5-7 PM, and (3) 8 OR MORE ON ANY DAY.
