SIGNAL FLAGS * WINTER EDITION 2019 Season - #1 (Jan 28)
From PYC Commodore Jim Hieftje -- Hello from F-f-f-frigid W-w-w-w-est M-m-m-m-michigan! We hope you are enjoying the off-season wherever this finds you. Expect another fun season at the PYC; preparations are well underway. GM Jordan Aebig expects a good nucleus of returning 2018 staff. He’s working with House Committee, chaired by Vice Commodore Amy LaBarge, on an attractive menu with some new features. Social Committee co-chairs Carol Nauta and Peggy Candela plan to have the tentative event calendar posted on the PYC Website in early March. Posted below are some May/June events for your planning purposes.
Membership – Committee chair Macy Felter reminds everyone that they should already have received their 2019 Statement by postal mail. Payment of each member’s dues and capital contribution must be received by the PYC by March 1. (Mail payment to PYC, P.O. Box 607, Pentwater, MI, 49449.) If payment is received after March 1 and before April 1, a late fee of $50 per person will be assessed. Members whose dues (and late fees if applicable) are not received by April 1, 2019, shall automatically forfeit membership in the Club. (Note: any open tabs from the 2018 season are shown in the Statement as a balance forward.)
Notice regarding Intermediate Membership: This pertains to a member’s child or ward who’s between the age of 21 and 25, and who is either a full-time student or on active duty in the U.S. Military -- and who wants to (a) access the PYC unaccompanied by a member, and (b) be permitted to purchase food and alcohol. If this circumstance applies to someone in your family in 2019, please notify Macy Felter via email (firstname.lastname@example.org); she will see that a $50 invoice is issued. Also, you must submit to her an Intermediate Member Application Form that is found on the pentwateryachtclub.com Website under Administration > Forms. For more info, refer to PYC Bylaws Article 4. C. 3. and House Rules Section C
Marina Availability – Stations Committee Chair Paul Slotsema (email@example.com) reports there are two available dingy storage spaces, and two available Personal Watercraft ports. The North and South Basins are completely reserved (w/two on waitlist). Kayak Storage also is fully reserved (no one on waitlist). Waitlist forms are posted on the pentwateryachtclub.com Website under Administration > Forms.
Thursday Night Dinner Update – Rear Commodore Russ Cross reports that chairs (some returning; some new) have been recruited for these themed dinners: Flank Steak (June 6), German (June 20), Rib Fest (June 27), Taste of Italy (July 11), Back from the Mac & Cheese (July 18), Lasagna (August 1), and Tailgate Party (August 29). New ideas in the works are Farm to Table, and Fish Fry. Dinner chairs are still needed for a few nights. Please consider stepping forward with a new menu idea, or bring back an old favorite (e.g., Lamb, Shrimp Boil, Mexican Fiesta, Pecan Chicken, and Pig Roast). Please contact Russ Cross ASAP at 515-710-8969 or firstname.lastname@example.org to help with continuing this special weekly tradition, now in its 71st year!
The work of the Pentwater Lake Association greatly benefits all PYC members, and those who haven’t yet joined the PLA are urged to do so.
